HANDCRAFTED WINE PRODUCED IN VERY SMALL QUANTITIES FROM FAMILY GROWN NAPA VALLEY FRUIT TO ALLOW ARTFUL ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL.

Welcome...

Throughout the world, the finest wines capture the soul of the vineyards and the artistry of those who craft the wine. In this private realm of winemaking, the estates are small and the proprietors hold an extraordinary commitment to excellence.

The handcrafted wines of Napa Valley’s Black Cat Vineyard are rich with fruit yet show a classic refinement. They are wines of the heart. We warmly welcome you into the intimate world of artisan winemaking, where passion and discovery abound.

Wines of the Heart

Wines of the Heart

I craft the wines of Black Cat Vineyard by hand, with a passion for perfection. I develop an intimate sense of each wine, from soil to cellar to bottle, with keen observations, an experienced hand, and a highly personal relationship with the wines. Each bottle from Black Cat Vineyard is a wine of the heart, an elegant expression of my unparalleled commitment to quality and finesse.

All my wines are hand-grown and hand-crafted, in very small quantities. It is my pleasure to share them with you.

Vineyards

Tracey is a first-person farmer whose “boots on the ground” philosophy takes her through the vineyards daily. This personal relationship guides her viticultural decisions, ultimately leading to wines that express the distinct character of the grapes and their vineyards...

Estate Vineyards

Coombsville, Napa Valley

Our estate vineyards and home are located in the Coombsville area, a scenic region of rolling benchlands and hidden wineries. Close to the town of Napa, yet miles away in its charming rural character, Coombsville was home to some of the Valley's earliest vineyards in the 1840's.

Coombsville is a sweet spot for Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Rocky volcanic soils, light morning fog and afternoon breezes here create idyllic conditions for the elegant characteristics of these varietals. With ripening occurring at a consistent, moderate pace, the wines are approachable, yet sophisticated, complex and layered.

Rutherford Vineyards

Rutherford, Napa Valley

The famed Rutherford AVA rests in the heart of the Napa Valley. The soils are dominated by marine sedimentary materials with some volcanic deposits, and achieve excellent drainage.

Wines made from grapes grown in Rutherford are said to exhibit "Rutherford dust," shorthand for a dusty-berry-spicy element that I like to describe as a persistent and velvety ending, with a fine dusting of cocoa. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc embody these unique characteristics.

Howell Mountain Vineyards

Howell Mountain, Napa Valley

The Howell Mountain AVA is host to renowned vineyards that produce some of Napa’s most highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. These vineyards are characterized by a westward-facing orientation, which provides extended sun exposure, and volcanic, well-drained soils. This combination creates small, uniform grapes with robust flavors, resulting from an ideal balance of grape clusters and leaf canopy.

The Zinfandel vineyard grows on a steep slope, with vines nearly 100 years old and stalks as thick as tree trunks. By any measure, this is an extraordinary Zinfandel vineyard. With no irrigation and careful cultivation, the vines are true survivors, consistently producing a small quantity of highly nuanced fruit each year.

The Black Cat

The Black Cat

"Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash.  That one is the cat.  If man would be crossed with a cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat."  Mark Twain

Black Cat Vineyard is named for an intrepid and sociable feral black cat who settled on the property. Black Cat, as he was eventually (and appropriately) named, became Tracey’s steadfast companion in the long days and months she spent developing and planting the estate vineyard. He became a loyal and beloved member of the family and upon his passing, inspired us to adopt and care for other feral cats....not all black....but all wonderful in their own very individual ways.
