Tasting Notes

Winemaker Tracey Reichow

With its magnificent bouquet of lush cherries, mixed berries, and wafting cedar, this wine heralds a classic Cabernet from Howell Mountain. Velvety and rich on the palate, a core of creamy cassis and cherries is subtly wrapped in notes of brambles and dusty cocoa. Waves of fruit and texture, carried by vibrant acidity, yield to a persistent, complex finish that is lined with subtle espresso and dusty cocoa. Sultry and intense, this is a vintage for the ages – and it will age spectacularly!

Vineyard & Vintage

Howell Mountain, Napa Valley

The Howell Mountain AVA is host to renowned vineyards that produce some of Napa’s most highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon. These vineyards are characterized by a westward-facing orientation, which provides extended sun exposure, and volcanic, well-drained soils. This combination creates small, uniform grapes with robust flavors.

In 2013, a warm spring and minimal rainfall yielded an ideal balance of grape clusters and leaf canopy. As the season continued, the key markers of bloom, veraison, and harvest occurred right on schedule, with optimal ripening of the grapes.
