Tasting Notes

Winemaker Tracey Reichow

100% Zinfandel  ~  100% Howell Mountain

This is a classic, some may even say “retro-style”, Zinfandel, with generous fresh fruit character. The bouquet is simply gorgeous! Heady aromas of berry and warm spice fill the glass, framed by an enticing note of vanilla.

Each sip brings classic Zinfandel character, with a melange of dark cherry and blackberry preserves deepening to hints of black pepper and dark spice. Textured and quite persistent, the finish delights with waves of berry and creamy vanilla, closing with a slight grip. This wine is a true mountain Zinfandel, with polished layers, lustrous fruit, and superb balance. A classic American wine for classic American barbecue!

Vineyard

Howell Mountain, Napa Valley

Nearly 100 years old, with stalks as thick as tree trunks, the Zinfandel vines grow on a steep slope of Howell Mountain high atop Napa Valley. By any measure, this is an extraordinary Zinfandel vineyard. With no irrigation and careful cultivation, the vines are true survivors, consistently producing a small quantity of highly nuanced fruit each year.
