This elegant and smooth Syrah displays the refined character that complements meals and friends so well! Grown on the family Estate vineyard in Napa's Coombsville area, the finest lots of grapes are hand-selected for this artisan wine. I find that the nature of the soil imparts distinctive characteristics to the Syrah grape. Our vineyard is composed of granite and volcanic soils, ideal for developing a Syrah with refined flavors and complex aromatics.  Rich, bright and softly smoky, this vintage shows great balance and grace.  Deep flavors of mixed berries, cassis and plum are framed with the signature of the Estate vineyard, delicate white pepper.  Velvety and plush in the mouth, this Syrah closes with flowing layers of lush fruit and soft spice.

2006 Family Cuvee ~ Napa Valley
Cabernet Blend
Very Limited Production - 200 cases

Full bodied and silky, this blend is my best yet!  The enticing notes of the Syrah and the supple tannins of the Cabernet Sauvignon integrate beautifully into a lush, full tasting experience.  Vibrant ripe cherry and blackberry flow to a rich mid-palate.  The finish builds and lingers, capped by silky tannins and layers of black fruit flavors.  Pure pleasure in a bottle!  A nice framework of acidity ensures the wine will age well over the next decade.

Winemaking
A rarity for a small winery, harvest occurred on the same day at both vineyards.  The fruit was hand-selected, crushed and destemmed into small open-top fermenters.  Fermentations were punched-down, by hand, at least twice daily.   Upon completion of fermentation each lot was pressed and allowed to settle in tank before going to barrel.  The wines were barrel aged separately for one year then blended and aged for an additional seven months.  A total of 19 months in 100% French Oak, 33% new, followed by one year of bottle age before release.

 2006 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 

Limited Edition - 120 cases Sold-out 

This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine of finesse.  It exhibits silky tannins with a rich, bright expression of cherries and black fruit.  Layers of fruit and tannins come together to create a wonderfully balanced, lush wine made to enhance your meal.  A touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot add a splash of cassis to the velvety finish.

Vineyard  This Napa Valley vineyard was planted in 1997 in the cooler, southern end of the Valley. Granite soils, light morning fog and afternoon breezes here create idyllic conditions for this rich, cool-climate Cabernet.  Ripening occurs at a consistent, moderate pace and the grapes develop bright fruit flavors.

2006 Estate Syrah ~ Napa Valley

This elegant and smooth Syrah displays the refined character that complements meals and friends so well. Grown on the family estate vineyards in Napa's eastern foothills, the finest lots of grapes are hand-selected for this artisan wine. The granite and volcanic soils are ideal for developing the refined flavors and bringing out the perfume of the Syrah grape. I believe that soil has a greater impact on wine made from Syrah compared with many other wine grapes. Opening with alluring aromas of ripe black fruit and wild sage, this Syrah also shows the signature of the Estate vineyard, delicate white pepper. On the palate, vibrant layers of juicy cherry and wild plum flow to subtle clove and nutmeg. Harmonious and nicely balanced, the wine’s well-integrated tannins impart a velvety roundness to a long, satisfying finish.

Winemaking
This hand-made, artisan wine begins with a personal selection of each bin of grapes. The fruit was then gently crushed and partially destemmed into small open-top fermenters. Fermentations were punched-down, by hand, three times per day. Fermentation was completed in 14 days and each lot was gently pressed before going to barrel. Aged 19 months in 60 gallon barrels; 100% French oak, 33% new.
