Tasting Notes

Winemaker Tracey Reichow

Bottled only in the very best vintages, this wine showcases the rich array of flavors that Cabernet Franc develops when ideally ripened. The sensory experience opens with a deep bouquet, featuring boysenberry and black currant framed by engaging notes of licorice, mint, and rose petals. Each sip excites the palate with a lively range of flavor and texture. Leading notes of succulent berry medley flow to savory suggestions of black olives and dried herbs. An intense, dimensional finish offers juicy berry and intriguing notes of ginger and black pepper. The closing note – a smidge of mocha dust – announces the wine’s origins in Rutherford! This wine’s versatility makes it an ideal match at the dinner table.

Vineyard & Vintage

Rutherford, Napa Valley

The 2013 growing season featured warm, dry conditions, leading to rich flavor development and an early harvest. Even in the best years, Cabernet Franc is a “high maintenance” grape. I made numerous passes through the tiny vineyard in Rutherford, continually tweaking the amount of foliage and clusters to achieve an ideal balance between the two. The extra effort paid off beautifully, with uniformly ripe clusters bursting with intense flavor.
