ESTATE VINEYARDS

COOMBSVILLE, NAPA VALLEY

Throughout the world, the finest wines capture the soul of the vineyards and the artistry of those who craft the wine. In this private realm of winemaking, the estates are small and the proprietors hold an extraordinary commitment to excellence.

Our estate vineyards and home are located in the Coombsville area, a scenic region of rolling benchlands and hidden wineries. Close to the town of Napa, yet miles away in its charming rural character, Coombsville was home to some of the Valley’s earliest vineyards in the 1840’s.

Coombsville is a sweet spot for Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Rocky volcanic soils, light morning fog and afternoon breezes here create idyllic conditions for the elegant characteristics of these varietals. With ripening occurring at a consistent, moderate pace, the wines are approachable, yet sophisticated, complex and layered.

RUTHERFORD & ST. HELENA

NAPA VALLEY

The famed Rutherford AVA rests in the heart of the Napa Valley. The soils are dominated by marine sedimentary materials with some volcanic deposits, and achieve excellent drainage.

Wines made from grapes grown in Rutherford are said to exhibit “Rutherford dust,” shorthand for a dusty-berry-spicy element that I like to describe as a persistent and velvety ending, with a fine dusting of cocoa. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc embody these unique characteristics.

HOWELL MOUNTAIN

NAPA VALLEY

The Howell Mountain AVA is host to renowned vineyards that produce some of Napa’s most highly acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. These vineyards are characterized by a westward-facing orientation, which provides extended sun exposure, and volcanic, well-drained soils. This combination creates small, uniform grapes with robust flavors, resulting from an ideal balance of grape clusters and leaf canopy.

The Zinfandel vineyard grows on a steep slope, with vines nearly 100 years old and stalks as thick as tree trunks. By any measure, this is an extraordinary Zinfandel vineyard. With no irrigation and careful cultivation, the vines are true survivors, consistently producing a small quantity of highly nuanced fruit each year.
